Policy Overview

ATMC learners who wish to withdraw or defer from training must notify ATMC in writing. International students must state the reason and provide documentation for deferring their studies as ATMC needs to notify this information to the Department of Home Affairs via PRISMS.

Grounds for Deferment or Suspension

Deferral of commencement or temporary suspension of studies will only be granted in compelling and compassionate circumstances. Reasons may include:

  • Medical Grounds (must provide Medical Certificate)
  • Exceptional Reasons (must provide supporting certificates)
  • Change of mind
  • Other validity documented reasons

Application Process

  1. Complete the 'Application for Deferment / Suspension / Cancellation / Withdrawal' form.
  2. Attach necessary evidence: Medical Certificate, Travel Documents, or other supporting certificates.
  3. Submit the form to the administration office.
  4. The time for processing of the application is 10 working days.

Important Considerations

  • Students are advised to contact the Department of Home Affairs as deferment/suspension may affect visa status.
  • Learners who apply for a deferral can be granted two deferrals for a maximum of 12 months.
  • Additional fees and charges may be associated with the recommencement of training.

Cancellation by ATMC

If there has been no contact from the learner in response to a withdrawal or deferral letter being sent to them by ATMC, the withdrawal may be processed after 4 weeks.

Expulsion

ATMC reserves the right to expel students for serious breaches of discipline following appropriate disciplinary procedures. Fees paid are not refunded for expelled students.
